Sydney’s heavy scene came alive in a big way on Saturday night as Memphis May Fire and Blessthefall brought their long-awaited Australian tour to a packed Manning Bar. Backed by local favourites Sienna Skies, the night delivered a perfect storm of nostalgia, aggression, and modern post-hardcore firepower.
From the first note to the final encore, this was a show that never let up. Every band brought something different to the table, but the result was the same across the board. Pure chaos, huge singalongs, and a crowd that refused to hold anything back.
Sienna Skies Open with Heart and Fire

Sydney’s own Sienna Skies kicked things off with confidence, proving exactly why they’ve remained a staple of the Australian heavy scene. Opening with “Let It Burn,” they wasted no time pulling the early crowd in, blending melodic hooks with crushing breakdowns.

“A Predetermined Outcome” and “Cut Me Off” kept the momentum strong, while the debut of “Pillow Talk” gave fans a glimpse into the band’s next chapter. The emotional weight of “Don’t Let Me Go” hit hard, before closing with “Mess,” which had the growing crowd fully engaged.

It was a set that balanced polish with passion, setting the tone perfectly for what was to come.

Blessthefall Bring the Nostalgia and the Chaos

When Blessthefall hit the stage, the energy in the room immediately spiked. Opening with “You Wear a Crown But You’re No King,” they launched straight into a set that felt like a celebration of their legacy.

“Hollow Bodies” and “2.0” ignited massive reactions, while “What’s Left of Me” turned the room into a unified chorus. “Youngbloods” and “Venom” pushed the pit into overdrive, with bodies flying and voices louder than ever.

Tracks like “Promised Ones” and “Wake the Dead” kept the intensity high, but it was the closing run that truly sealed it. “Guys Like You Make Us Look Bad” brought a wave of nostalgia, before “Hey Baby, Here’s That Song You Wanted” closed things out in explosive fashion, with the entire venue screaming along.

Blessthefall didn’t just play a set. They reminded everyone why they’ve remained such a defining force in the genre.
Memphis May Fire Deliver a Crushing Headline Performance

Memphis May Fire stepped up as headliners and delivered a performance that felt both massive and deeply personal. Opening with “Paralyzed,” they immediately locked the crowd into their rhythm, with Matty Mullins commanding every inch of the stage.

“Shapeshifter” and “Bleed Me Dry” hit with precision, while “Somebody” and “Misery” showcased the band’s ability to balance heaviness with melody. “The Sinner” and “Vices” drove the intensity even higher, turning the floor into a relentless sea of movement.

The closing stretch was where everything peaked. “Make Believe” and “Versus” had the crowd fully invested, before “Love Is War” set the stage for a powerful encore.

“The Fight Within” and “Blood & Water” brought the night to a thunderous close, with the entire room singing, shouting, and giving everything they had left.

Memphis May Fire proved exactly why they continue to headline stages around the world. Tight, emotional, and absolutely explosive.
Final Thoughts
This was more than just a tour stop. It was a reminder of how powerful this scene still is when the right lineup comes together. Each band brought their own identity, but the connection between stage and crowd was the real highlight of the night.
Sydney showed up, and the bands delivered in every possible way.
By the end of it, Manning Bar felt less like a venue and more like a pressure cooker that had finally blown its lid in the best possible way. If there was a takeaway, it’s that this kind of night doesn’t come around often, and when it does, you don’t sip it slowly… you down it while it’s still cold.
