For over two decades, Andorran progressive death metal masters Persefone have built a global reputation for intricate musicianship, deep themes, and powerful live performances. In October 2025, they’ll finally touch down on Australian soil for the first time, joining Melbourne’s own Be’lakor on their “20 Years of Live Be’lakor” east coast celebration, plus a headline side show with Orpheus Omega in Adelaide.

Speaking to Metal On Tap, guitarist Carlos Lozano reflected on the milestone:

“We’re so excited for this new highlight in our long career to be able to go this far… you never imagine performing your music this far from where you are. It’s kind of a dream come true.”

Carlos emphasised how special it is to experience firsthand the reactions of new audiences. “People can explain things, but there’s nothing like going there yourself. Every audience is different, but the feelings our music sparks are kind of the same everywhere. That means we’re all the same in every place — and that’s a beautiful thing.”

Throughout the chat, Lozano spoke about the unifying power of progressive death metal:

“This music speaks for primal feelings in human life… transformation, aggression, transcending. It’s a powerful tool. And at shows, you connect with people you don’t know, from backgrounds you don’t know, all at the same time.”

Persefone also take a thoughtful approach to social media. Carlos admits he’s not a fan personally but sees it as a tool: “It’s like learning a language. We choose to use it meaningfully and responsibly, without sacrificing the art for the promotion.”

As for milestones, he recalls the same thrill at each step — from their first gig to playing Wacken, touring Japan, and now heading to Australia. “Those moments happen all the time if you open your eyes. They don’t always have to be epic. Releasing your first album can feel the same as playing a huge festival.”

Carlos signs off with a heartfelt message for fans: “Thank you for your time. Time is the most valuable thing you have. Enjoy life and don’t get dragged into nonsense — life is beautiful and we only have one.”
