Brisbane’s own symphonic folk metal warriors Valhalore are preparing to unleash their long-awaited new album Beyond The Stars on April 11 via ROAR! — and it’s a massive step forward in both sound and spirit.
I sat down with frontman Lachlan Neate and guitarist Anthony Willis to dive deep into the emotional and sonic power behind the band’s most ambitious record to date.
🧭 Inside the Album: “Beyond The Stars”
Valhalore’s signature blend of soaring melodies, crushing heaviness, and cinematic instrumentation is on full display here. We unpacked the emotional gravity of new single “Wayfinder” — a song that hits like a spiritual call to arms — and the sheer energy of “The Storm”, a track that perfectly captures the band’s intensity and depth.
With mandolin, cello, and traditional wind instruments woven into their compositions, Valhalore continue to expand their sonic universe, drawing listeners into vast, mythic soundscapes.
🌊 A Special Guest: Anna Murphy (Ex-Eluveitie, Cellar Darling)
One of the biggest surprises on the album is the feature from folk metal icon Anna Murphy, who lends her unmistakable voice to the hauntingly beautiful track “Heart Of The Sea”. Lachlan and Anthony spoke about how the collaboration came together — and how much it meant to work with someone who helped shape the genre they love.
