Finnish melodic death metal giants Insomnium delivered a hauntingly beautiful and emotionally charged performance at Sydney’s Metro Theatre last night, taking fans deep into the melancholic world of 1696 and beyond. From the crushing heaviness of “White Christ” to the tear-stained melodies of “Heart Like a Grave,” the set flowed like a well-written novel — atmospheric, powerful, and impossible to look away from.

Supporting them in stellar form were fellow Finns Omnium Gatherum, who kicked things off with razor-sharp precision and infectious energy. Highlights included “Skyline” and “Reckoning,” with their signature blend of melodic hooks and pummeling riffs igniting the crowd early.

The show was a masterclass in Scandinavian metal storytelling, captured beautifully through the lens of Courtney’s photography, showcasing both bands in their atmospheric and aggressive glory.
