The King Street Band Room in Newcastle was absolutely brewing with energy for the Chelsea Grin and Currents co-headline tour, and the crowd was already warmed up by the time the supports, Heavensgate and Bloom, hit the stage. Heavensgate set the stage with some powerful thrashy riffs and high-octane energy that got the room moving right from the start. Their explosive set had the crowd pumped, and it was clear they were up for a night of heavy hits. Bloom followed with a more atmospheric approach, building a soundscape that had a darker, post-metal vibe, which provided the perfect contrast and set the tone for the heavyweights to follow.
Currents

When Currents stepped onto the stage, they poured out a performance as crisp and refreshing as a cold pint on a hot day. Kicking things off with “Never There” and charging into “Monsters,” the band’s melodic metalcore sound took over the venue. Their blend of emotional depth and crushing heaviness was a hit with the crowd, especially on tracks like “Better Days” and “Living in Tragedy,” which had the crowd screaming along. As they powered through songs like “Unfamiliar” and “Vengeance,” the audience couldn’t get enough of their dynamic performance, and when “A Flag to Wave” and “Apnea” closed out the set, you could feel the anticipation building for Chelsea Grin’s turn.
Chelsea Grin

Then it was time for Chelsea Grin, and let me tell you—these guys poured it on thick. Tom Barber’s commanding stage presence was nothing short of ferocious, his intense aura turning the room into a mosh pit of pure metal aggression. From “Hostage” to “Dead Rose,” Chelsea Grin delivered a flawless set that was as intense as it was fun. The crowd was completely on fire during tracks like “The Foolish One” and “Across the Earth,” with waves of energy crashing over them. But it was “Suffer in Hell, Suffer in Heaven” that really had the crowd frothing at the mouth, proving Chelsea Grin’s ability to deliver a good mix of chaos and groove. As the set closed with “Sonnet of the Wretched” and “Recreant,” the fans were left begging for more, their spirits high and adrenaline levels through the roof.
A huge shoutout to Drew Fulton, who captured the whole wild ride with his photos, giving us the chance to relive all the intensity of the night. From start to finish, this was a perfectly brewed night of metal, with both Currents and Chelsea Grin raising the bar. What a show!
